Today we wanted to talk about an interesting new find in the makeup scene and it is the Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Mixers. We love the idea of a mixer simply because that way instead of buying 10 new lipsticks you can just mix and match what you already have to create a new shade. Now yes you can get the same effect by mixing two lipstick shades but the idea of a mixer is still pretty cool.
The product comes in four shades; pearl, glitter, yellow and purple.
In terms of actually combining the mixers with a lipstick it probably comes without saying that certain shades work better with certain colours. For example the purple looks great with all shades of pinks and red but when you mix it with a more orange colour sometimes the results really leave you speechless and not in a good way. The pearl and glitter shades are very versatile, they have currently worked with every shade we paired them with but the results just aren’t as fascinating as the yellow and purple.
The downside of these products is that they only work to their full potential when you mix them with other Rouge Unlimited products. So lets say you were to mix these with a different branded lipstick, depending on the formula it may either turn out astonishingly beautiful or just down right dirty looking. For us that is a bit of a deal breaker in the sense that you can already mix whatever lipstick shades you have at home to create a customized look.
BUT to be completely fair, when you use these mixers with other Rouge Unlimited shades, it doesn’t look mixed so that probably means the pigments between the two products compliment each other better allowing for a more natural payoff in colour. Whereas sometimes when you mix two different lipsticks together, you might not achieve that very smooth look. Perhaps that has only ever happened to us but there was definitely one or two times where we mixed lipsticks and it just looked like our lips needed an exfoliating session or something.
These definitely aren’t an essential product seeing that you can probably mix whatever product you already have to achieve a different look. Also you can’t wear these on their own except for maybe the purple but even that is stretching it for some people so having to spend US$30.00 on a product you can’t even use on its own isn’t exactly ideal in our opinion.
Alright guys this is all we have for today. If you have any questions related to this product please leave us a comment below and we will try our best to get back to you.
