So today we thought we would do a post on the new Vetements Spring Ready To Wear collection! Demna Gvasalia decided that rather than having a runway show, he and his team stopped and asked people to be photographed in this new collection. The models ranged from teens, families, normal everyday people and even some pensioners! The photographs were taken by Gvasalia himself and we loved this approach of having “real” people exhibiting his clothes! Apparently, Gvasalia showed people images of fashion poses and asked them to do their version of them which was to in a way mock the conventions and pretensions of fashion. The photographs were then printed life size and shown in a parking lot in Paris for a press party.
Just like past Vetements collections, this collection still has the vibe and silhouettes the brand is known for with Gvasalia staying that he wanted to go back and perfect things that they did in previous seasons. If you are a fan of Vetements, you will find the shapes and colors similar with prints that have been slightly tweaked. With so many sold out pieces, people can now have a second chance to purchase new tweaked versions of cult pieces or pieces they wish they have gotten in past seasons. An example of this can be seen in the tea dresses reissued for Spring with polka dots now with emojis scattered among the dots! And the oversized bomber jacket which Vetements is well known for.
When we ourselves first saw this collection, we did a double take wondering why so many of the pieces looked familiar until we realised! For us, this collection wasn’t anything new and exciting but as avid fans of Vetements, we did love the pieces and the new patterns and colors and his approach towards exhibiting the pieces which was refreshing.
Without further ado, our favourite pieces!
