Continuing on with the YSL “The Shock” collection, which the new mascara -> CLICK HERE <- is also apart of, YSL has also launched a new dual ended shadow pen which is actually GOD SENT!!!
So according to YSL, this is a water resistant formula which we have now realised to be 100% TRUE after taking a shower and still having the remnants on our hands!!! This double ended shadow stick, apparently also allows you to shade, line, smudge and highlight for easy smokey looks! Which after trying out the actual pen, we were absolutely positive we had to have all four!
So this pen comes in four shades; smokey brown, smokey burgundy, smokey green and smokey grey with one lighter highlighting colour and one darker colour. We found that the darker end has a more matte grey tone to the colours while the lighter colours; mostly used for highlight or a lighter makeup look, is quite shimmery.
We also loved the fact that you can play up your makeup look however you want with these pens and are very versatile and handy for everyday use! If you are like us and end up doing your makeup on the train or bus, you’ll find that these save a lot of room in your bag and are a lot easier to carry around than a makeup palette!! But remember, as this product is quite creamy, the colours go on very pigmented and strong so we would recommend using a light hand as it could be quite messy and it would be easier to slowly build up the intensity as you like!
For a more daytime look, you could use the lighter end as a highlighter and take it all the way on top and underneath to brighten up your eyes and use the darker shade to contrast and contour the eyelid lightly! If you do want to make your makeup stronger for the night time or simply create a more smokey look, you could just take the stronger shade and build it up on top of what you already created or just use the lighter shade as a highlight for the inner corners and take the darker shade all the way around the eyes!
What we haven’t mentioned yet though, is how EXTREMELY soft, creamy and pigmented these shadows are! These sticks literally glide on like velvet onto your lids with absolutely no streaking! And did we mention the staying power?! We find that one of the huge dilemmas in finding a good shadow stick is the fact a lot of them do NOT stay put and end up creasing on the eyelids! We found out these colours stay on like no tomorrow and for those with oilier lids, we would recommend using an eye primer underneath (just in case!).
We hope you guys enjoyed this posts, and we do highly recommend that you guys check this out as it’s just TOO GOOD!!! Let us know if you liked it in the comments below, and if you haven’t already, feel free to check out some of our previous posts below!
