YSL Mascaras

Hi guys!

So today’s post is going to be on our favorite mascaras of all time! So my go to mascaras has and will always be (possibly) from YSL. So here goes:

Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils Shocking

This is probably the first ever high end mascara I’ve ever gotten and probably my (Izzy) ALL TIME absolute favourite! I’ve never found a mascara quite like this one and have tried on numerous occasions to replace this and the closest that I’ve gotten to the exact same as this would be the Heroine Make waterproof mascara. I’ve been in love with this mascara ever since it first came out when I was in high school and was so glad that they’ve decided to keep it! One of the key points in my makeup looks is my lashes and this mascara, really brings them out. I’ve always been a big fan of the big dramatic dolly eyes look you get after applying several coats of mascara (kind of like twiggy) and as the name suggests, this mascara really does make your lashes look rather shocking and dramatic. This mascara although decent after one coat, can be built up with 2-3 coats for a serious dramatic fake eyelash effect. I use the ‘deep black’ and it not only emphasises the length but also adds SERIOUS volume and curl as the formula is rather thick. I also found that although my eyelids are rather oily and this product is not waterproof this does a really good job at not smudging at all!!! Which I find is EXTREMELY important when you’re layering on coats of mascara.

Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils Waterproof

Unlike the Shocking, this mascara is less dramatic and the formula is slightly lighter I also found the brush a bit thinner than the Shocking. However, I have to say this is the BEST waterproof mascara I’ve ever used. I have oily eyelids and with most waterproof mascaras, the product usually will transfer to the top of my lids but this mascara actually STAYS. Although it is not as dramatic as the Shocking, it does dramatise my lashes a lot more than many others I’ve tried. However, I would say it does more volume than length which I guess would be better for daily wear.

Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils Baby Doll

This one is actually my (Vivvy) ultimate favorite but I’m not saying that the other two are bad, in fact they’re just as good but for some reason this one just suits my eyes better and my overall look I guess. But with that being said, normally I like anything in the dolls range of things e.g. Lancôme Hypnôse Doll Eyes and like I just mentioned it’s probably just got to do with the final look it gives, because I don’t pull off strong looks that well and even when I do go for something a bit darker than usual then I normally opt for the YSL Faux Clis, Diorshow Iconic Overcurl or Chanel Le Volume Ultra-Noir De Chanel.

Alright, lets actually get on to the mascara, so I have this in Wheedler Brown because for daily makeup looks I do prefer brown mascara over black and when I say I don’t pull off dark make up as well I really am not joking, somehow it just really doesn’t suit me so whenever I can I do go for brown shades whether it is mascara or eyeliners. This mascara definitely volumnizes more than it lengthens but if you were to first prime your eyelashes or even just carefully apply another coat on top then it does build up quite nicely. Does this mascara actually create the doll like false eye effect? I wouldn’t really agree to that especially if you don’t have long eyelashes to begin with. Another thing about this is that it’s not waterproof but for me, I haven’t experienced any smudging even during summer or rainy days which I guess is why I’ve been able to love this product till now.

Hope you guys enjoyed this post or we hope it was at least a little bit helpful in one way or another but if you guys do have any other specific questions about any of the mascaras mentioned or any other ones (hopefully we’ve tried) feel free to just comment below and we’ll definitely get back to you!

xx Vivvy and Izzy
